CHOOSE YOUR SESSION
Different sessions are linked to the National Curriculum and designed for different age groups.
Embark on an exciting guided tour exploring egg production and how Yolk Farm cares for its animals. Students discover the important roles of different farm animals, get up close with hens and other friendly residents, and bring Science and Geography to life through a hands-on understanding of the natural world and animal welfare.
This inquiry-based session explores egg production through questions, observation and potential data collection. Students can investigate hen behaviour, egg quality and environmental factors, discussing how diet may affect egg quality, the relationship between hen welfare and productivity, and the challenge of balancing production demands with sustainability goals.
PLAN YOUR SCHOOL VISIT
From timings and supervision to lunch, accessibility and safety, here are the practical details supplied for school visits to Yolk Farm.
Standard visits are approximately 2 hours, fitting neatly into a school day. Full or half-day options are also available, combining engaging sessions with relaxed free time.
Schools are warmly invited to use the designated indoor or outdoor picnic areas for lunch.
The maximum group size is 30 students to help ensure a high-quality, engaging experience. For larger groups, please get in touch to discuss what may be possible.
The standard rate is £17.50 per child. Accompanying adults are welcomed free of charge.
Once your booking is confirmed, an invoice will be sent and payment is required in advance to secure the visit.
A minimum of one month's notice is requested for cancellations. Cancellations made with less than one month's notice may be subject to the full booking fee.
Please discuss any specific requirements for SEND students when booking so appropriate support and adjustments can be put in place.
The farm is fully risk assessed and copies of the risk assessment documents are available on request.
Yolk Farm's team are first-aid trained and on site to assist during your visit.
Visitors should wear appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy, closed-toe footwear, as farm environments can be muddy and uneven.
Handwashing stations with soap and water are located around the farm. Thorough handwashing is required after contact with animals, with hand sanitiser available as an additional precaution.
